Huvudled

Priority road

Vägmärket upplyser om att vägen är en huvudled. En huvudled är en väg vars trafikanter ska ges företräde av alla trafikanter på anslutande och korsande vägar. Trafikanter som är på väg att köra in på huvudleden informeras om att de har väjningsplikt genom vägmärken och, i de flesta fall, vägmarkeringar. På huvudleder råder generellt parkeringsförbud. Det råder dock inget generellt stoppförbud. Det innebär att du får stanna för att låta en passagerare stiga i eller ur bilen eller för att lasta av eller på gods. Men du får inte parkera så länge det inte finns parkeringsplatser som är utmärkta med ett vägmärke som tillåter parkering.

The road sign indicates that the road is a priority road. A priority road is a road whose users are to be given priority by those on connecting and intersecting roads. Road users that are about to enter the priority road are informed of their duty to give way by road signs and, in most cases, road markings. The road sign is placed where the priority road begins and is repeated after each junction, unless it is already clear that the priority road continues. The priority road normally ends at a junction where give way or stop applies towards crossing traffic, but it can also end between junctions – in that case, the cancellation sign "End of priority road" is used. The priority road also ends where a motorway or clearway begins. There is a general parking prohibition on priority roads, which means that you are only allowed to park in marked parking spaces. There is, however, no general stopping prohibition on priority roads, which means that you are allowed to stop to load or unload goods, to allow a passenger to get in or out of the car, to avoid danger (for example, if an animals runs across the road) or if traffic conditions so require (for example, if there is a traffic jam).
