Anordningen anger att förhållandena ändras så att hastigheten behöver anpassas. Anordningen används för att ange vägens eller körbanans kant eller för att skilja trafikriktningar åt vid komplicerade passager. Anordningen är placerad så att fälten lutar nedåt på den sida där trafiken ska färdas. I detta fall ska du alltså passera på höger sida om anordningen. Om anordningen används vid ett vägarbete eller liknande arbete är den röd och gul. Fälten kan då även vara vågräta.
